Oh, look there's a nest!
We were invited to take part in their first art exhibition in August 2025 by the Art At The Duchess team. We were absolutely delighted and set off to create a fairy that would work as a wall hanging piece.
A visit to the Natural Museum in London and the delicacy of the weaving birds' nests triggered the idea of a fairy's nest.
Shani set off to improve her baby sculpting skills as early as January 2025 and took 8 sessions to create a series of 'proto babies' in line with her learning from professional sculpting books and careful observation of her collection of high quality reborn dolls.
Meanwhile Anaick worked on creating delicate ceramic feathers to decorate the inside of the future nest and carried on her research on our range of homemade underglazes.
Hours and hours of careful sculpting, firing, underglazing, glazing and refiring later, a very fortunate meeting with woodworker extraordinaire Ian Baird lead to the creation of the beautiful plinth perfectly finishing the piece. Thank you Ian!
A huge amount of work has been invested in this piece and we were both extremely proud to present it for the exhibition in August.
You can imagine how delighted we were to find out it had won the public vote for the exhibition too!
