How to prepare for your ceramics workshop.

Happy You and Mee ceramics workshops are a little bit different
and here are a few hints on how to get the best out of the one you have treated yourself to:
Our workshops are project based, that means that you already know what we are going to be making together and Anaick has prepared a solid lesson plan to guide you step by step through the technical stages of your sculpture.
Your mission, if you accept it is to enjoy yourself! That's all.
You could also, if you felt like it, build up a good plan on how you will add your personal touch to the design, how you want your final piece to look like, which extra details you want to add, what will you do to make it your own.
Research:
Clay is the most wonderful media: we all start with the same grey ball of mud and we all finish with the most different pieces. It is ok to go and look for inspiration in other people's work, unless you set off to copy it exactly, your final piece will most certainly be very different.
Pinterest is a website where you can search for images of specific items. you could type in 'Ceramic pumpkin' and see what comes up. You can 'pin' your favourite ones into your own board if you sign in or you can take a few screenshots to store in your phone.
General searches on the web can be a little hit and miss but you could also have a look in websites such as Etsy or Not On The High Street.
Design:
If you are that way inclined, you could extend your play time before even attending your workshop itself by setting a little time aside before you come to the Happy studio and drawing a few sketches of your design. Not a very good drawer? What about a list of the details you'd like to remember to add on the day?
It's all about giving yourself the opportunity to visit different ideas which, in time, will make it easier to develop your own ideas.
Enjoy:
It's all about the joy of playing with clay!
When you arrive at your workshop, Anaick will have everything ready for you. All you need to do is leave the rest of the world at the door and allow yourself to fully enjoy those two or three hours you have set aside just for yourself. It's not often we have the opportunity to really switch off and our little studio is exactly the right place to do so. Enjoy being lead through the different stages of your sculpture, relax into your creation, lose track of time and grab the opportunity to create the best piece you can.
You will be able to make the most of every minute of your workshop as we never stop before the end the clean up or tidy up, that's Anaick's job! At Happy you And Mee, you come to play with clay and that is the only thing you'll have to do and we love that!
